"Where can I buy Correx?" I wish I had a £1 for everytime I heard this I used to buy it in large'ish quantities and sell some of it on, I don't do this anymore, frankly I don't have time. 4mm Correx is fairly easy to get from printing companies, it's what they charge you for it that's the main problem, 2mm is much more difficult, there are a few people out there selling it, but the quality and price vary tremendously, here is one solution to the problem, Read on................. |

Wire type pushrods are fine until they get over a certain length then they can flex and bend out of shape when under compression, causing at best not very positive controls and at worst complete loss of control. Here's a simple and cheap way of stiffening them up. |

Can I use commercially available control horns ?
Yes you can, but it can cause problems, Correx is not as rigid as balsa, and it gets more flexible/weaker over time. Normal commercially available control horns have quite a small footprint on the control surface, this is fine for balsa as it is fairly rigid and can quite easily cope with the load placed on it in this small area. |

What type of 'Downpipe' should I use ?
You will have read about Canadian and American Downpipe or Downspout on most of the original SPAD Plans and also on the forums. Square Down pipe in the UK is available from most DIY shops (B&Q, Wickes etc) and builders merchants, it is all good enough to use for fuselages, after all its just to hold all the bits of your plane together, the main difference's between brands are weight, size and, flexibility. |

What is a 'Yardstick' and how big is it ?
A Yard stick is basically a wooden ruler a yard long (feel free to correct me on this), They do exist in the UK but aren't very common. Their main use is for wing spars, and sometimes re-enforce correx fuselages etc. They are given away free in some of the larger stores in the U.S. and in the true spad tradition that's why they were adopted for use as wing spars. |
